A National Volunteer Week message for our Members and Volunteers
Dear Fellow Vincentians
As our nation pauses to reflect on the work of volunteers as part of National Volunteer Week, we wanted to write to you personally thank you for your commitment to service and to celebrate our shared achievements.
Our organisation is no ordinary organisation – we change lives every day, something we are only able to achieve because of you, our volunteers and members.
Whether it’s in one of our many Centres across the state, on the streets with food vans, or in visiting people in their homes or our support centres, we truly put our faith into action and make a real difference in the lives of the people we assist.
Our Society’s commitment to forging a more just and compassionate community is reflected in our many achievements. Over this past year:
● Conference members visited 160,918 people providing over $20 million worth of financial assistance and $1.7 million worth of goods from Vinnies Centres
● 9,381 volunteers contributed over 1.9 million hours of work in our 247 Vinnies shops and Centres
● Support Services staff and volunteers assisted 292,556 people
● Vinnies Vans served 73,365 meals
Fellow Vincentians, as you know, we rely on people like you to give others a hand up – your contribution brings hope, joy and happiness to the lives of the people we assist. I cannot thank you enough for being the friendly face of the St. Vincent de Paul Society each and every day you walk this journey with us.
Wishing you all the very best and in the words of the National Volunteer Week motto,
May you live happy as you give happy!
Denis Walsh, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW State Council President
