Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday 5 July
* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are advised that this presentation may contain the voices, images and words of those that have passed.
With some Parishes reopening (with limited attendees) and schools back across Australia, the scope for local celebrations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday has increased. With this in mind we have developed a resource to help you celebrate with us!
We have created a 5 minute virtual Acknowledgement of Country and information presentation that will allow you to pay your respects to the Traditional Custodians of your area – which is important if current restrictions mean you can’t have a local Custodian in attendance.
Featuring music from Wadeye, the Tiwi Islands and the Torres Strait Islands, the video contains rich imagery of the gifts that First Nations Catholics bring to the Church in Australia.
It is the perfect way to set the scene on this important day.
Remember to check https://www.natsicc.org.au/2020-atsi-sunday.html for more resources and to join us at 11.30am EST on 5 July for the livestream of our national celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday from St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral in Adelaide.
