Blessing and Opening at Burraneer

Last Friday the Society officially blessed and opened our SAFH Housing units at beautiful Burraneer.

A rite of blessing is an important ceremony for the Society. It is a commitment to our Catholic faith traditions and highlights that the Society is more than just a welfare organisation but a charity led by faith.

We gathered in an acknowledgment and welcome by Auntie Lola Ryan and a smoking with Uncle Les McCloud and nephew Daniel Ella. Denis Walsh, Chair of SVDPNSW Housing and Eleri Morgan-Thomas, Executive Director – Partnerships – Strategy, Policy & Commissioning – DCJ, shared thanks and gratitude for these remarkable Units and Brian Murnane, CEO Amelie and SVDPNSW Housing, shared our connection to the International Vincentian movement of 13 Houses.

The blessing was led by Bishop Terry Brady, Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney with readers Bev Kerr and Pat Cudmore and we listened to the deep gratitude of one of the tenants Tom Lyons.
