CAMPBELLTOWN CONFERENCE GOOD WORKS

Campbelltown Conference Good Works

For several years now, the Campbelltown St John the Evangelist Conference of the St Vincent de Paul Society has worked hard to distribute Christmas parcels to disadvantaged families in the Macarthur local government area. However, in December 2020, Conference members found that those who normally make generous donations through the local parish and community to support the charitable works of the Society were unable to do so because of COVID-19.

Unexpectedly, the President of the Macarthur Combined Churches Group contacted Campbelltown Conference through Father John Ho, Parish Priest of St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Campbelltown. He asked if members could use donations held by Campbelltown City Council and by the Macarthur Combined Churches Group which were unable to distribute their own donations in the usual way.

President of the Campbelltown Conference, Joe Gill, says this offer of donations, “was a God-send.” The Conference was able to deliver them to all the families they support before Christmas. Joe Gill, on behalf of members of the Campbelltown Conference, thanks the Campbelltown City Council, the Macarthur Combined Churches Group and members of the Campbelltown community for their generosity.
