Members invitation to contribute to the review of The Rule
Society Members are invited to provide feedback to inform National Council’s review of The Rule. The Rule is perhaps the Society’s most important document, it underpins all of the work undertaken by the Society’s members, volunteers and employees. The National Council reviews and updates the Australian sections of The Rule approximately every 10 years.
The review of The Rule is focused on Part III, Articles for Australia and Procedural Guidelines. These sections of The Rule are specific to Australia.
The National Council has provided three documents to assist members in contributing to the review of The Rule:
Explanatory Memorandum
Articles
Procedural Guidelines
The Explanatory Memorandum provides context on the proposed changes.
The Articles – sets out each of the articles that the National Council proposes to change and includes side-by-side the old and the new draft articles.
The Procedural Guidelines – sets out each of the articles that the National Council proposes to change and includes side-by-side the old and the new draft articles.
Members are invited to provide feedback by 31 March 2023 on the draft Articles and the draft Procedural Guidelines. Members can provide feedback as individuals, as a Conference or as a Council. Members can provide feedback on as many, or as few, articles as they like.
Feedback can be submitted using the following webforms:
NSW Member Feedback – Articles – The Rule Review
NSW Member Feedback – Procedural Guidelines – The Rule Review
The State Council will provide a report to National Council on the first Member feedback period.
A second review period follows a refinement of the drafts based on the March feedback. This second review will extend to 30th September 2023.
It is anticipated that following these two periods of consultation, the final draft will be considered by the National Council for progressing to the Council General, International Secretary General in early 2024.
