NSW Government – Influenza Vaccination

Influenza (the flu) is a highly contagious illness caused by the influenza virus.  Both influenza and COVID-19 are circulating in the community.

We strongly recommend that all Society personnel receive a flu vaccination as soon as possible by making an appointment with your GP or pharmacist.

If you are diagnosed with influenza:

  • do not attend a Vinnies’ workplace while you have symptoms
  • note that you will be most infectious in the first 3-5 days of your illness
  • inform your people leader and let us know if you think that you may have attended a Vinnies’ workplace while you were infectious

Some people are eligible for a free flu vaccine because they are more vulnerable to the influenza virus.  For more information about the NSW Government’s influenza vaccination program, visit here.
