The St Vincent de Paul Society NSW 2020/21 Annual Report is now available

Dear Members & Volunteers,

The St Vincent de Paul Society NSW 2020/21 Annual Report is now available.

The St Vincent de Paul Society is a lay Catholic organisation that aspires to live the Gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy and by working to shape a just and compassionate society.

As members of the Society, you do this every day as you go about living out your faith by supporting people in need.

Our network of conference members and volunteers work tirelessly across the State supported by some 100 local services (including Community Housing Services) and staff, as One Society, in order to fulfill our mission.

I thank you for your great efforts during this time of uncertainty and upheaval.

The coronavirus has presented unique challenges for members with the way support is delivered being forced to change at the same time demand for assistance has grown.

I am so thankful for all that you do in keeping the spirit of the Society alive through your work in communities across the state.

In the face of these continued and emerging challenges, the Society has been able to make a huge difference in the lives of people experiencing hardship and disadvantage.

Some of the major achievements from the past year include:

  • Our members assisted more than 35,000 people with $7.7 million in food, clothing, household relief and financial aid;
  • We collaborated to establish a vaccination clinic in the heart of Sydney to ensure the most vulnerable members of our community were protected against COVID-19;
  • The Build Homes, Build Hope petition was debated in NSW Government through the efforts of staff, members and volunteers calling for greater investment in social housing

You can read the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW 2020/21 Annual Report here.

A 2020/21 Year in Review print edition will be released to Conferences in coming weeks featuring some of the key highlights of this report.

I look forward to working alongside you over the coming year as we strive to hold true to our mission and values by shaping a more just and compassionate society for all.

Yours faithfully,
Denis Walsh
Provisional State President
