Consumer protection during COVID-19

Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW (EWON) Board Chair, Mr Tony Crawford and the EWON Board invite you to participate in the upcoming online Consultative Council Meeting with guest speaker, Catriona Lowe, Board Member at the Australian Energy Regulator (AER).

The Consultative Council Meeting is an opportunity for EWON to engage with consumer, small business and industry representatives operating in NSW.

At this meeting you will hear from both EWON and the AER about consumer protection initiatives during COVID-19.

We will provide an overview of complaint trends, current initiatives and highlights from our 2019/2020 Annual Report, particularly how EWON has continued to engage with consumers during COVID-19.

Catriona will present an overview of the critical role the AER Statement of Expectations has played in protecting consumers during the pandemic and plans to continue supporting consumers. Catriona has over 20 years of experience in the consumer legal sector advocating for and protecting consumers. Prior to her appointment to the AER Board she was a member of the Boards of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority, the Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority, the Legal Practitioners’ Liability Committee and the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman. She was also Co-Chair of the ACCC’s Consumer Consultative Committee, as well as being a former Chair and Treasurer of the Consumers’ Federation of Australia.

As with all EWON Consultative Council Meetings, there will be time for questions and general discussion on the topics presented or any other energy or water issues.

We hope you can join us for this online meeting hosted on Zoom.
