Support from the Society comes in many shapes and sizes, reflecting not only the diversity of hardship experienced in our communities, but also the thoughtful and person-centred approach our members take in responding.
For one Corrimal grandmother, Sharon*, and her two granddaughters, a simple beach holiday to Ulladulla in late 2025 became a treasured opportunity to rest, reconnect and heal.
After several difficult years that had taken a toll on the family’s wellbeing, the Corrimal Conference helped make a short getaway to Ulladulla possible for the family. This was something the family would not otherwise have been able to afford.
During their stay, the family spent time unwinding with beach walks, visiting rock pools and collecting shells together. It was precious time together and they each delighted in it.
Sharon’s granddaughters later used the shells they collected to create a picture of themselves on the beach, which they later presented to the Corrimal Conference as a gesture of thanks.
“I am so blessed to have met some wonderful people in the St Vincent de Paul Society in Corrimal and Coniston,” Sharon said.
Inspired by the kindness they received, the family hope to one day give back to others in their own community.
