The team at Balranald gathered in September to celebrate the efforts and impact of two of the Society’s long-standing dedicated volunteers and members.
Linda Nelson, who is the current Store Manager at Vinnies on Market Street, was awarded a Lifetime Service Award in recognition of her 22 years of service to the community.
Linda has been a dependable and agile volunteer and member, holding a variety of roles with the Society, starting as a Retail Volunteer, then Day Coordinator, before becoming a St Dymphna’s Conference Member and Conference Treasurer.
Susan Balshaw, President of St Dympna’s Conference Balranald, joined the Society 27 years ago, shortly before also becoming a Retail Volunteer. Susan was presented with a Life Membership Award, in honour of her years of service and dedication. Sue has also held several different volunteer roles and has been a passionate supporter of the people we assist.
Tanya Godden, Regional Manager, Retail West, attended the presentation and shared her appreciation for Linda and Sue.
“Linda and Sue always uphold the Society’s mission and values,” Tanya said.
“I feel lucky to be presenting these awards. I would like to thank Linda and Sue for their dedication, passion, empathy and kindness. Thank you for everything that you do, Linda and Sue, you do make the difference.”
In the town that is famous for its brilliant, starry skies, the presentation allowed the Balranald community to pause and turn their gaze toward the light that shines brightly between and among people.
