Celebrating Service and New Leadership in Wilcannia-Forbes

Wilcannia–Forbes (WCF) Central Council members and staff gathered in Cobar on 22 April for their quarterly Central Council Meeting, which included the election of a new Central Council President. With current President Jim Rogers’ fouryear term concluding on 30 June 2026, NSW State President Peter Houweling and State Council Spiritual Adviser Leo Tucker attended to oversee the process and were delighted to announce Rhonda Keane as the incoming President.

Rhonda was formerly employed with the Society in the role of Retail Manager/Property Manager/Safety Officer for the WCF Central Council and West Region for 11 years prior to her retirement. After retirement, she joined the Sacred Heart Conference in Forbes, quickly stepping into the role of Conference Secretary and later being elected Central West Regional President in June 2024. We congratulate and pray for Rhonda as she continues to promote the Good Works of the Society across Wilcannia-Forbes and on the NSW State Council.

At the close of the meeting, Peter Houweling presented Jim Rogers with Lifetime Membership in recognition of his 20 years of dedicated service, including two terms as Central Council President (2018–2022 and 2022–2026). Jim is deeply respected throughout the region for his compassion, wisdom, kindness, unwavering commitment to service — and, of course, his famous freshly baked caramel mud cakes that make every meeting a little brighter. He truly embodies the Vincentian spirit, consistently and quietly responding to the call to serve those in need.

Congratulations to both Rhonda and Jim for their well-deserved recognition!
