Gosford Comedy Night Raises Spirits and Funds

A combined effort by the teams, members, staff and volunteers from the Gosford and Woy Woy Vinnies Support Centres came to fruition on the evening of Thursday 26 September when a fundraising event “Comedy for a Cause” was held at Drifter’s Wharf in Gosford.

Drifter’s Wharf, a restaurant and function centre located on the beautiful Gosford waterfront, was a large supporter of the event and donated the premises for the night.

There were four amazing comedians who took to the stage in this really entertaining show. The main attraction was Tommy Dean, who has appeared on ABC TV’s Spicks and Specks and ABC Radio’s Thank God it’s Friday.

Both a lucky draw and raffles were held on the night with lots of happy winners.

Even though the weather was not a friend on the night, around 100 people attended the event and we raised just under $3,000. This money will go towards assisting people on the Central Coast who are experiencing homelessness or financial hardship – two sets of circumstances that have seen large increases of need in the community.
