The School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) is a federal government initiative that provides families and individuals with school-aged children who do not have internet at home free NBN for 12 months. 

The SSBI has now reached the milestone of over 15,000 connections nationally. 

The program has now been extended, and families have until 31 December 2024 to redeem their vouchers for free home internet until the end of December 2025. With less than 5 months for families to sign up, the federal government is doing everything it can to get the offer into the hands of those who may need it.   

Could you please refer eligible people we assist into this program? 

Eligible families and individuals include those who: 

• Have a child living at home that is enrolled in an Australian school in 2023.
• Do not have an active National Broadband Network internet service at home. Having a mobile internet service does not affect eligibility. 
• Live in a premises that can access the National Broadband Network via a standard connection – this will be checked by NBN Co.
