Sizzling community spirit at Ballina’s Bunnings BBQ

Tong-masters from two combined Conferences rolled up their sleeves on Saturday 27 July, successfully raising much needed funds for the Winter Appeal at Bunnings Warehouse, Ballina.

Alstonville Our Lady of the Rosary and Ballina St Francis Xavier came together for the community event with over 20 dedicated members volunteering their time. The group worked tirelessly in shifts from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, making the most of a sunny winter day in Ballina.

The barbecue fundraiser was a resounding success, raising $1,500. Proceeds will be split between the two Conferences and directed towards the Winter Appeal, supporting those in need during the colder months.

An amazing atmosphere was palpable throughout the day. The sunny 24-degree weather brought a bright and cheerful spirit to the event. Our members had a wonderful time interacting with the community, with many people offering donations and even saying, "keep the change."

One generous individual, who had visited the barbecue in the morning, returned later in the day with avocados from his property as a gift for the volunteers.

It was a fabulous day all around, filled with community spirit and generosity. We’re eagerly anticipating another successful event on Saturday 19 October.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success!
