The Hand That Offers the Cup: Gosford Members Reflect

Over 20 Conference Members gathered at the Gosford Support Centre on Wednesday 26 February for a Gosford & Woy Woy Member Support Day.

The members came together to celebrate their good works and to share their vision and hope for the future. It was a great opportunity to hear from presenters from different parts of the organisation about the range of supports available as well as the latest developments in programs and services.

Regional President Annette Johnstone welcomed Members, acknowledged the Traditional Custodians and introduced the range of speakers.

Corinne Lindsell, gave a very moving spiritual reflection related to the Vinnies logo and values – “The Hand that Offers the Cup.” She reflected on how our work is so important in fulfilling the mission of our founders to accompany and support the most vulnerable members of our community. In them, we encounter the person of Christ.

John Ferguson spoke on the range of supports available to Conferences in the areas of fundraising, events and the recruitment of new members.

Kate Conroy and Janice Stokes spoke on matters relating to the Code of Conduct and Safeguarding respectively.

Bridget Dunn gave a presentation of the new MAVS online system and demonstrated how to set up an account and access compulsory and voluntary training and learning modules.

Ketaki Wasnikar spoke of development and opportunities for Members and Conferences in the Schools and Youth space.

Denis O’Rourke spoke on the importance of social justice and advocacy as an integral aspect of the good works of members.

Thank you to Lisa Dalton, Nikki Willmette, Krystal Lyle and Deborah Dmoch for assisting in the organisation of this event.
