A Legacy Stitched with Love

Perched atop a cupboard in the Kyogle St Coleman’s Conference office sits a tapestry rich with history and faith. Depicting the three wise men greeting the new-born Jesus, the intricate tapestry was lovingly handcrafted by former Conference member Basil Aboody, affectionately known to all as “Chappy.”

Chappy was one of the founding members of the St Coleman’s Conference in Kyogle. He dedicated 25 years to creating the tapestry, stitching it carefully by hand over decades of service and devotion. Following his passing, the tapestry was gifted to the Conference, where it now stands as a lasting reminder of his generosity and commitment to helping others.

While Chappy’s craftsmanship lives on through the remarkable tapestry he created, his true legacy can also be seen in the enduring work of the Conference he helped establish.

Pictured here is the tapestry created by Chappy, along with a treasured photograph of Chappy alongside fellow Conference members, Tom Marsh and Johnny O’Reilly Senior.
