Vinnies at NSW Seniors Expo & University O-Week

University Orientation Week Recruitment Campaign (O-Week)

From 10 February to 12 March, the Society has been making its mark at university campuses across NSW for O-Week.

This period is the organisation's biggest opportunity of the year to connect with young people and grow its vibrant youth membership.

In 2024, over 6,000 students expressed interest in joining Vinnies Youth, which led to around 500 new Youth Members and Volunteers. That year, the Society stepped up its efforts to improve conversion rates by delivering tailored pitches and streamlining the Youth Onboarding Journey.

We were thrilled to be present at several campuses for the first time, including:

  • University of New England, Tamworth

  • University of Notre Dame, Darlinghurst Campus

  • Three TAFE Welcome Weeks in Wollongong

The Society was also excited to partner with the ‘Bring Your Best’ campaign, which encouraged students to donate pre-loved clothing. This initiative not only promoted sustainable fashion but also raised awareness about its retail operations and the broader mission of the Society.

Society Represents at NSW Seniors Expo

The Society is participating in the NSW Seniors Festival Expo at the International Conference Centre, in Darling Harbour, Sydney.

This event attracts over 25,000 attendees and offers a fantastic opportunity to engage with an incredible group of seniors, showcasing the Society’s work.

What to Expect:

  • Participation from Sydney Arch Conference Presidents for recruitment efforts

  • An on-site Vinnies Van, providing a tangible look at our community support initiatives

  • Representation from Gifts & Wills and Membership teams

Our 2024 debut at the NSW Seniors Expo captured expressions of interest in joining the Society from 1,500 individuals. We’ve also enhanced our data capture and follow-up processes to better connect with interested attendees.

Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to the Society.
