The Wyong Region has completed a successful recruitment drive in response to the growing need for assistance across the Wyong region. Following a strong social media campaign and a series of market stalls held across the Central Coast, the team received an incredible 250 Expressions of Interest from people eager to support the work of Vinnies.
To welcome prospective volunteers, the Wyong VSC hosted an Open Day on 30 April. The event proved a success, with seven new volunteers signing up to support the VSC, Vinnies Vans and Conference activities, and roughly thirty in the process of onboarding since the commencement of the campaign.
The campaign has also helped achieve an important milestone, with the Wyong Conference now able to reopen under the leadership of a newly appointed Conference President. This is a significant step forward in ensuring ongoing support for people in need across the region.
Metro VSC Team Leader, Nikki Willmette, highlighted the impact a recruitment drive can have on local communities. “Through a localised approach, using familiar faces and places around the Central Coast, this recruitment drive was successful, with 426 people assisted just within the last month.
Special thanks to John Ferguson, Kate Conroy and Alysha Wong O’Connor, whose dedication and support were instrumental to the campaign.
